GOOD NEWS!

It is now January 2010 and we are so very happy to announce that a telecab

has been donated to the Potter family!

AMAZING!!

The fundraising has provided the money required for a wheelchair accessible bathroom and also to install the telecab.

Thank you to everyone who was involved in Helping Mackenzie.

=============================

Thank you everyone who came out to support both of our fundraising events on June 20, 2009.

Thank you also to all the corporate sponsors and individual donors who helped us.

We could not have had such a successful day without an army of excellent volunteers - well done everyone!!

We are very pleased to announce that through online donations and money raised on June 20th,

we have raised approximately $11,000!!  A tremendous success.

But it doesn't stop there.....we still have some more money to raise to help Mackenzie get her telecab.  Online donations are still welcome.  Smaller fundraising efforts will be ongoing.

Mackenzie Emily Potter is a beautiful, eight year old, girl who needs your help.

She was born on February 10, 2001 in Burnaby, British Columbia, on Canada’s west coast and now lives in Ontario, attending second grade at Pilgrim Wood Elementary school in Oakville, Ontario.  She was born 3 ½ weeks early, weighed 6 lbs, 9 ounces at birth and despite her somewhat early arrival appeared to be a very healthy baby girl.

Within a week there were signs that raised concerns.  Her weight post-delivery continued to drop even after the one week mark and when she was 10 days old her mom (with dad tagging along) attended a breast feeding clinic at Vancouver General Hospital.  This trip was intended to a quick coaching session after which the family was going to enjoy a cool weather picnic at Stanley Park.  After a thorough evaluation by the medical team at Vancouver General, instead of a picnic, the Potters rushed to B.C. Children’s Hospital where Mackenzie’s heart-broken dad helped hold Mackenzie steady for the first of many, many IV lines and needles over the following years.  The first 4 veins burst on that traumatic first emergency room visit before one of her tiny, 10 day old veins could support an IV line.  From B.C. Children’s Hospital the family was then transported to New Westminster General Hospital.  Mackenzie and her mom stayed there for 10 days before coming home.
